Year of Establishment:1982
Being a Core &Classical branch of Biology, Zoology is one of the core subjects of UG program(bachelor’s degree in science) at our college.
The curriculum of Zoologyin the UG level includes teachings mainly related with the animal kingdomincluding humans. The Wide syllabus covers various aspects of Cytology,Taxonomy, Nomenclature, Embryology, Anatomy, Physiology, Reproductive Biology,Behavioral Science, Evolution, developmental biology, Enzymology, molecularbiology, Ecology, Environmental Biology, Toxicology, Microbiology, MedicalZoology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Biotechnology and Bio-techniques.
Combination of the theoryand practical work makes it easier for the students to understand the conceptsof wide syllabus in a better way. The knowledge related with the diverse fieldwhich makes lives possible in this planet is not only necessary to protect theenvironment but also its very much required for the very existence of mankind. The very much needed concept of sustainable development can only befulfilled by the contribution of this inevitable subject.
DEPARTMENT AT A GLANCE:-
Year of establishment: |
1982 (together with the establishment of science faculty in the college). |
Course/s offered: |
Bachelor degree in Science (B.Sc.). |
Level of the program: |
Undergraduate (UG) level.
(IST NEP - certificate/diploma/degree/ honors Courses)
( II ND& IIIRD- 03 Years Integrated Degree Courses).
|
Subject combination: |
In addition to the compulsory subjects of Foundation Course(Hindi language & English language) and Zoology there is choice to option any of the two-subject combination from either of the three subjects i.e., Chemistry, Botany & Biotechnology.
Hence the subject combination may be of following two types for B.Sc. students who are studying Zoology as one of the subjects:
1. The Classic Biology group: |
1. Found. Course
2. Chemistry
3. Zoology
4. Botany
5.Biotechnology |
2. Newly introduced B.Sc. –NEP COURSES: |
1. Found. Course
2. Chemistry
3. Zoology
4. Botany
5. Biotechnology
6. GE & VAC
|
Note: 1. The subject of Environmental Science is also a compulsory additional subject for all streams of under graduate courses, which is required to be passed by the students compulsorily in ether of the three years. | |
VISION:
Being a core &classical branch ofBiology, the department of Zoology visions:
ü To provide the basicunderstanding of the concepts to inculcate the Zoological attributes among thestudents.
ü To uphold high standardsof academic performance.
ü To make the students readyto face the challenges.
ü To generate thetemperament of research &innovation.
MISSION:
ü Teaching& Guidance focused on developing the conceptual knowledge &understanding of the subject.
ü Makingstudents understand the basics in a better way through practical classes anduse of ICT etc.
ü Preparingthe students for future competitions& other career enhancement.
ü Promotionof environment to intensify the curiosity about the subject.
